Predicting skill performance in terms of some cognitive abilities of advanced volleyball players in Maysan

Abstract

The aim of the study is to identify the predictive value of cognitive abilities and the extent of their contribution to the skill performance of the diagonal and straight smash skill for advanced volleyball players in Maysan Governorate. The researcher adopted the descriptive approach using the method and correlational relationships in order to suit the nature of the problem. The research community consisted of (110) players, as (22) players were excluded from the community as a whole due to non-attendance, so that the research sample on which the tests were applied was (88) players distributed among the clubs, with a percentage of (80%) of the total research population note. These are preparations for the sports season (2023-2024). After identifying the most important cognitive abilities (perceiving the sense of place, perceiving the sense of force, perceiving the sense of time) for the crushing multiplication skill, the main tests were applied to the research sample during the period from (2024/2/25) to (2024/5/25), and the spatial domain was Halls and stadiums of the investigated clubs, and after conducting statistical operations on the results of the tests that the researcher reached and through them, he reached the following conclusions:

• It is necessary to pay attention to the most important cognitive abilities (perceiving the sense of place, perceiving the sense of force, perceiving the sense of time), and each according to the percentage of their influence on the performance of the diagonal and straight smash skill for advanced volleyball players in Maysan Governorate.
• There is a percentage of contribution of some cognitive abilities (perceiving the sense of place, perceiving the sense of force, perceiving the sense of time) in the performance of the skill of hitting the diagonal and straight smash for advanced volleyball players in Maysan Governorate.
