Building a composite physical test for middle school students in the practical exam for physical education

Abstract

Until the vision of constructing a composite physical test for middle school students in the practical exam for physical education is achieved, the importance of this study contributes to reducing the effort and time of physical education teachers in middle schools, especially when they apply the practical exam in their lessons, the time of which has become disproportionate to the increasing number of students. It provides a complex physical test that includes a group of tests performed at the same time, as it would determine those responsible for the measurement and testing process with codified controls and thus lead to achieving justice among the tested students in terms of the opportunities available and competition when performing the practical exam in the physical education lesson. The problem of the research is the duplication of school hours, the increase in the number of students in the academic levels, and the reduction of physical education lesson classes to one class after it had been two classes. The lesson time is not enough to take the practical exam for physical and skill abilities in one class, which requires more than one class. This means a waste of effort and time on the part of the physical education teacher. The researchers used the descriptive approach using the survey method on a sample of (120) students from Gamal Abdel Nasser Preparatory School for Boys for the academic year 2023-2024. After describing the test and presenting it to a group of experts and specialists in the field of testing, measurement, and methods of teaching physical education, and taking their opinions and observations, and then applying the exploratory and main experiments, collecting data and processing it statistically, and extracting the scientific foundations, grades, and standard levels, the researchers reached the most important conclusions, including: The complex physical exercise prepared by them has proven effective in measuring the physical ability of students. The levels and standard grades added that most of the research sample was below the (average and acceptable) level, while (30) students achieved a good level, and (32) students achieved a weak level.

The researchers recommend the following: The need to generalize the use of the applied test in other middle schools in Baqubah Center or other districts of Diyala, whether male or female. Conducting other research and studies dealing with the construction of physical, physical-skill or skill tests for physical abilities and organized sports skills for middle and middle schools in proportion to the increasing number of students in schools.
